Recently Samaritans collaborated with St Vincent de Paul Society in order to promote Samaritans helpline service to some of the most vulnerable members of the Wellington community.

The “Better Off Together events in Newtown and Porirua were attended by approximately 800 social housing and social services users.

Attendees were provided with a free lunch and the opportunity to shop for clothes from Vinnie’s second hand stores free of charge.

Samaritans were at the events in Newtown and Porirua East to help set up and to ensure that attendees knew how to contact Samaritans helpline if they were struggling to cope and needed someone to talk to.

Hundreds of pens and fridge magnets with Samaritans helpline number on were given out to remind attendees that Samaritans free helpline is available 24/7 and they they are not alone.
